Bernd Schmutz Architekten

Bernd Schmutz will be teaching as guest professor at the faculty of architecture at TU Dresden, starting in October, with a design unit for bachelor, master and diploma students. He has also been invited by Prof. Ivan Reimann to join the final crits with projects on rebuilding the former synagogue and community centre on Fränkelufer in Berlin.

Bernd Schmutz has been invited to join Prof. Alexander Bartscher’s interim review at TU Kaiserslautern as a guest critic. The studio elaborated new ideas for transforming Carlfried Mutschler’s Stadthaus in Mannheim.

Bernd Schmutz has been invited by Studio Kawahara Krause as a guest critic at Universität Kassel to review the students projects on ‘Flux Order’, applied at a new building for the threshold to Hamburg’s city centre.

We are pleased for having been appointed to carry out restoration works on the buildings of the listed farm by Hugo Häring, built 1925 as one of the key works by the architect. The office will also convert the former mansion with new housing and develop a masterplan to outline pontentials for new modes of living on the countryside.

We are delighted to be part of Bovenouw’s Belgian pavilion for this year’s architecture Biennale in Venice. The office contributed with a model photograph of a fictional city, to complement the large-scale model landscape installed throughout the pavilion. The exhibition titled ‘Composite Presence’ has been curated by ‘Bovenbouw‘ with Vlaams Architectuurinstituut.
