Following the planning approval we are looking forward to realise the transformation of three existing houses to provide more space but also to reconfigure energy concepts with renewables. Site works will start early summer.

Planning has been granted for our fan-shapes building in Bavaria, a light timber construction following the shape of an existing hedge.

Following recent surveys and in line with historic documentation the restoration works in Garkau have started with the repair of the cowshed roof and cladding to make the building watertight again. More to follow in 2022.

Bernd Schmutz will be teaching as guest professor at the faculty of architecture at TU Dresden, starting in October, with a design unit for bachelor, master and diploma students. He has also been invited by Prof. Ivan Reimann to join the final crits with projects on rebuilding the former synagogue and community centre on Fränkelufer in Berlin.

Bernd Schmutz has been invited to join Prof. Alexander Bartscher’s interim review at TU Kaiserslautern as a guest critic. The studio elaborated new ideas for transforming Carlfried Mutschler’s Stadthaus in Mannheim.
